Terms of Use — Starter Draft
This starter text is not legal advice. Have an attorney review before public launch.
Purpose
MMIPS is a public-awareness, search, sharing, mapping, and accountability platform for missing and murdered Indigenous person cases. MMIPS is not law enforcement, an emergency service, or an official missing-person reporting system.
No emergency reporting
If someone is in immediate danger, call 911 or the appropriate emergency number. Submitting information to MMIPS does not file a police report, create a NamUs record, create an NCIC entry, or notify any government agency unless MMIPS separately confirms that it did so.
Submissions
By submitting information, you represent that you are authorized to submit it, that the information is accurate to the best of your knowledge, and that you have permission to share any uploaded photographs or documents. MMIPS may edit, delay, reject, hide, or remove submissions for safety, privacy, accuracy, or legal reasons.
Prohibited content
Do not submit suspect accusations, rumors, exact private addresses, shelter locations, graphic material, threats, harassment, confidential investigative details, or information that could endanger a person, family, witness, or investigation.
Corrections and removals
Families and authorized representatives may request corrections or removal. MMIPS will review requests and may remove content while a request is pending.
No legal advice
MMIPS does not provide legal advice. Information on the site is for public awareness and accountability only.
